Table of Contents

GU10 When you consider the benefits of LED lightbulbs, it’s easy to see why they’re so popular nowadays. LEDs are long-lasting, energy-efficient, and can save you money over the long run; however, you can find many different kinds of LED bulbs on the market today and it can be confusing to know which one is right for your needs. To learn more about choosing the right LED bulb, keep reading below.

What is a GU10?

As the first step, let’s start with what a GU10 bulb is. A GU10 is the most common type of spotlight in modern homes. GU10 refers to the base of the bulb, which contains two short, rectangular-like pins. A 10mm refers to the distance in millimeters (mm.) between two pins. It’s a type of push-in and twist fitting.

You may think a GU10 is the same as an MR16, but the two types of bulbs have different attachment methods. The pins are smaller and shaped like needles on an MR16 bulb, so they won’t fit in a GU10 socket.

Check the beam angle

Once you have identified the wattage and color of light, it’s crucial to identify what type of location you will be using it in because every area has a different ‘beam angle.’ The beam angle is the angle in degrees (D) of the light distributed by a lamp. Smaller angles of distribution result in a narrow beam. To draw attention to your work of art, use a small beam angle. Otherwise, use a wider beam angle. A common beam angle for general lighting is one between 24 and 40.

lacelesty can do beam angles of 10 to 60 degrees

Consider the color temperature

For your GU10 spotlight bulbs, it’s important to know what color of light you prefer. In professional lighting, we speak of the color of light in terms of ‘kelvin’:

The light 2700K color is mostly used to create a cozy ambiance in living rooms, bedrooms, retail, and hospitality spaces, such as restaurants, theatres, and hotels.

3000K is a warm color and not often used for coziness but can be productive, for example in a kitchen or a restaurant.

As a result, 4000K makes people more productive and is therefore ideal for workplaces such as offices and retail stores as well as beauty salons.

The 6500K light color is used in garages, hospitals, and laboratories where precision work is required.

Can I dimmer the GU10?

You can dim the GU10 LED product page by using the filter. The brightness decreases as the light are dimmed, but now you can change the color of the light bulb. You can choose from 2700K to 6000K with these bulbs. The atmosphere will be enhanced this way.
